Convert Your Car To a Wombat Car
Increasing numbers of people are keen to convert their car to a Wombat Car Club car. The Convert Your Car idea means you can turn your car from an expense to an income, whilst contributing to your local area or workplace and help to improve the environment.
How It Works
Level 1 - You decide that converting your car is a great idea.
You identify periods of time when your car is free to be used by others. eg. Daytime, evenings, weekends. You talk to your friends, neighbours and work colleagues and find your first potential member.

Level 2 - You have your first member!
You cancel your existing insurance and breakdown cover. Bookings are arranged via the internet booking system and you arrange access to your car with the member directly.
Wombat will provide:

Fully comprehensive insurance for you and all the members

Online booking and invoicing system

Telephone support for help and enquiries from you and any members.
Level 3 - You have several members.
You decide to install the swipe card technology in your car.
Wombat will provide:
- Full technology installed into the car by a Wombat approved fitter.
The use of the technology through the website and in the cars is essential to a successful car club. The idea of the 3 levels is to incur the costs of the technology at the same pace as the increase in membership levels.
What will it cost?
Level 1 is free.
Level 2 will incur a cost of £99 per calendar month (remember the saving on your insurance and vehicle recovery).
Level 3 will incur a cost of £140 per calendar month.
By the time you have reached Levels 2 and 3 you would have established the car club and you would be generating an income to cover these costs.
Wombat won't make any further charges on top of this, for example, we won't keep a percentage of the reservation or mileage fee.
What Will You Earn?
Wombat will agree with you hourly reservation rates and the fuel charge per mile. We will suggest that you use a similar charge to the current Wombat charges, but this is dependent on the nature of your vehicle. You will be paid all the income from a reservation period including the mileage charge. You will be able to see the income build up during the month. At the end of the month Wombat will transfer the income into your bank account.
A car club take 3-5 years to become established. A successful car club car would expect to be used 20 - 50 hours per week which would earn £70 - £175 per week or £300 - £750 per month excluding the mileage fee.
What You Need To Provide?
You will provide:
- A clean car, fully serviced with MOT and Tax.
When you use the car you will need to use the booking site so that other members are aware that the car is not available. You will incur no additional charges on top of the monthly Wombat fee when you use the vehicle.
Basically, when you are using the vehicle it is for normal private use, when a Wombat member uses the vehicle, you have loaned your vehicle to Wombat who are then hiring it onto a Wombat member. You are earning an income from your vehicle instead of it sitting on your drive.
